TOPIC : GOD OF MAN IS BEAUTIFUL
TEXT : And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Genesis 1:26-27 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.1.26-27.KJV From our text for today's message, God says let us make man in our own image , and He did so. This signifies that man in God's image is a beautiful creature and a holy image .
We are made to worship God in spirit and truth but our sin had made us to be far away from God, SIN has taken away the beauty in us from Him. His beauty is to reflect in us believers when we obey His commands, in 1 Peter 3 : 3 - 4 He said it not our outward appearance or wearing of jewelry or the clothes we put on but our inner self , the unfading gentle and quiet spirit that the Lord Almighty sees. Brethren, to be beautiful as God means we must live a holy life, one away from SIN .
The God of man is pure in heart , that is why when He sent Samuel to anoint David He said Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 KJV In Jeremiah 17 : 10 , the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Brethren, how pure is your heart, that if God should search your heart, He will meet it holy and pure away from deceit and sinful ways Matthew 6 : 21 says it's where our treasure is that our heart will always be, our heart should always be in the things of God Almighty where holiness reigns supreme for everlasting. It's only sin that can prevent God's beauty to show in us, and we can do away with sin when we allow God to abide in us .
Conclusion The beauty of the Lord means that, in his nature, the Lord possesses everything that is desirable. His character is one of perfection. Consequently believers are to desire him above all. If we delight ourselves in him he promises to give us the desire of our heart.
This desire will be the Lord himself. Believers are commanded to reflect God's beauty in their conduct. My prayer for us this morning is we do away with every form of sin so that God's beauty can show in us and in all areas of our life in Jesus name amen. Shalom brethen
