Analgue Versus Digital; Schools have to choose a side-Adeniji A. B
The world over, it is a known fact that the 21st century is characterised by lots of innovation and developments.
It is also characterised with different people with diverse tastes.
While some still would love to maintain their love for analogue ways in order to reserve their sanctity and also preserve their privacy, on the other hand, we have the millennials who are not even aware there was ever anything like analogue as all they ever have known is the way we have things at present.
Digital life is all they know and in many ways they seem to be like ten steps ahead of some of us that are still stuck to the past, with iurbways of doing ans getting things done.
They seem not to understand why there are people who still read hardcopy news papers while at their finger tips they can access any news on the go through the use of the digital devices?
We live a world where even last years digital devices are replacing and displacing older versions of same devices.
Just last week (3rd week of june,2020) Olympus of Japan announced their inability to continue with the production of their brand camera as phones have virtually taken over the market from them and they now hardly make profits.
Presently, with the recent effects of covid-19 on the world and how that business are vigorously fighting a fight of their life in order to either remain relevant or be seen being shown out of the business world. We have seen that switching over to digital ways isn't no longer an option but a must.
The educational sector and in particularly the private sector is that which is best hit; as many never prepared for such an out come as what we now see today.
E-learning option is proving very difficult for those who have remained analogued all these while.

Switching over during this trying times for such is almost like an haculian task, as resources seems not to be even available to carry out such transformation over night.

The analogue patents aren't also helping matters as it becoming unbearable for them, releasing smart gadgets to their children/ward than even trying to understand how the whole set of contraptions works. Not to now talk of how this can be utilised to desiminate knowledge virtually.
Schools that had always had to collect fees on table are the worst hit now, as their clients are such that are readily at home with the old ways of doing business. Online banking to them is a nightmare coupled with their fear of cyber crimes and frauds, if ultimately exposed to doing online transactions.
Staffers of such schools and outfits; haven worked in such environments, do not have any concrete evidence to show they earn pays, except they get cover letters from employers.
In such a situation where there are no pay slips, no salary accounts to show such records evidently nor a concrete proof of their payee tax nor having a TIN ( Tax Identification Numner), what can such do?
Embracing the digitalisation process is a call that is long over due to be adhered to by all. A transition from analogue to digitalisation may seems as evil, but be that as it may, with the turn out of events recently, may be a necessary evil for such who have a phobia for the process.

A lot get done faster and easier with digitalisation and the earlier the old ways of doing things is jettisoned the better for all players.
After the schools get opened it isn't going to be business as usual, as the adammants would be shown the way out of business, left without any option, if they fail to do more through digital compliance.
Education is a continuum where a vacuum shouldn't be allowed. So it is also with the educational outfits who are to carry out the whole process.
Banking is being done seamlessly so does shopping and many other things affecting our lives.
The big question is, why should it be that, it is those who pride themselves with the idea that they have taught every other sectors ( being teachers) ate the ones found wanten and being seen and tagged as old-schools and archaic in their approach towards doing what they do best, educating?
Analogue was good , digitalisation is a better option.
E-leamrig has come to stay and embracing digitalisation is the option.
Schools have to bear in mind that the generation they have now to teach ate ways ahead of them as they are digitally compliant. Let ot not be that the learner would turn out to be the one to teach the teacher.
Digital transformation is causing a lot of destruptive changes and our schools can not be left out of the matrix.
